Level Up: Career and Confidence Expo Empowers Brockton Youth

Breaking Through Roadblocks Inc., in partnership with Brockton High School’s Business Program, brought something special to the community with the Level Up: Career and Confidence Expo and you could feel it the moment you walked into the gym.

On Saturday, April 4, 2026, students from grades 9–12 and young adults came together for more than just a career event. This was about real conversations, real exposure, and real opportunities. And for many of them, it was the first time they truly started to see what their future could look like.

From “I’m Not Sure” to “I Can See It”

Let’s be real most high school students are still trying to figure things out. They hear about careers, but they don’t always see them. That’s what made Level Up different.

Students weren’t just walking around collecting flyers they were:

  • Talking directly with professionals

  • Asking real questions

  • Hearing honest stories about career journeys

  • Learning what it actually takes to get started

You could literally watch the shift happen. What started as curiosity turned into confidence.

They explored careers in:

  • Tech and Software Engineering

  • Civil Service like policing, firefighting, and corrections

  • Finance and Real Estate

  • Journalism and Media

  • And even newer paths like 3D printing and drone piloting

For some students, it confirmed what they already wanted to do.For others, it opened doors they didn’t even know existed.

Confidence You Could Actually See

One of the most powerful parts of the day wasn’t just the conversations—it was how students started to carry themselves differently.

We had:

  • Resume support

  • Professional headshots

  • Grooming services

And shoutout to the four barbershops that showed up and showed out, providing free haircuts for students. That meant a lot. Because it’s bigger than a haircut it’s about confidence.

You could see students go from unsure to walking a little taller, speaking a little clearer, and engaging a little more. Sometimes all it takes is someone pouring into you—and giving you the tools to show up your best.

A Gym Full of Opportunity

With over 20 companies in the building, students had access to a wide range of industries all in one place.

And this wasn’t surface-level interaction these were real conversations, real advice, and real connections.

One of the standout moments? The Brockton Fire Department bringing out the fire truck.

Students got to walk through it, ask questions, and get a hands-on feel for what that career looks like. That kind of experience sticks with you.

The Community Really Showed Up

This event doesn’t happen without people who care—and the community definitely showed up.

This Was Bigger Than an Event

At the end of the day, Level Up wasn’t just about careers it was about direction.

Students left with:

  • A better understanding of what’s out there

  • Real connections with professionals

  • More confidence in themselves

  • And a clearer sense of what their next steps could be

And honestly that’s what matters most.

Because when a young person starts to believe “I can actually do this”… everything changes.
